YMCA Policies
Attire
Athletic shoes and shirts must be worn during exercise in all workout areas. Proper swimsuits must be worn when using swimming pools.
Food and Beverages
Food and drink are not permitted in the workout areas or locker rooms, except water. A vending machine is available in the lobby.
Lockers
Lockers are available for rent or available for day use by members and guests. Bring your own lock and remove it at the end of each visit. Items left overnight will be removed from the locker room and placed in Lost and Found. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items. To rent a locker, please sign up at the Member Service Desk.
Membership Card/ID Policy
Your membership card is valuable and important. You must present it each time you enter the building for access to the facility and when you register for special programs. Lost cards may be replaced for a nominal fee. All adult non-members MUST present a photo id for entry.
Smoking Policy
Both the interior of the YMCA and the sidewalk surrounding the facility, is a smoke-free environment.
Photo/Video Policy
The YMCA reserves the right to take photographs and/or video of adults and children participating in YMCA programs or events; images may be used in YMCA promotional materials. If you do not wish to be included, please inform the photographer.
Sex Offender Policy
It is contrary to the mission of the Y to be a sex offender. The Duluth YMCA reserves the right to perform background checks on its members and program participants and checks all members against sex offender lists. Registered sex offenders are not eligible for membership or use of the facility at this YMCA.
Code of Conduct
At the Duluth Area Family YMCA, we expect staff, members and guests to behave in accordance with our mission and values, respecting the rights and dignity of others.
At the YMCA, we demonstrate Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty by:
- Speaking in respectful tones, refraining from the use of vulgar or derogatory language and dressing appropriately;
- Resolving conflicts in a respectful, honest and caring manner;
- Respecting others by refraining from intimate behavior in public;
- Respecting the property of others;
- Creating a safe, caring environment free of weapons and firearms;
- Participating in programs to build healthy spirit, mind and body; and
- Never engaging in the use, sale, dispensing or possession of illegal drugs or the unsanctioned use of alcohol on YMCA premises.
Adherence to the YMCA Code of Conduct is essential. Noncompliance may result in suspension or termination of YMCA membership privileges.
