Join Transform Northland Today!

What is Transform Northland?   Transform Northland is the Duluth Area Family YMCA’s core team of committed donors who choose to make a monthly, charitable gift to the Y.

Transform Northland members, lovingly referred to as Y Transformers, understand that their gifts are transformational rather than transactional and are teaming up with the Y to inspire change across the Northland.  Transformers pledge their support year-round to build a healthier, more connected community where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential.

Become part of Transform Northland: We want you to give to the Y in the way that makes the most sense to you and is the most convenient to your giving needs. Monthly giving allows you to budget your donation and will enable us to better plan our programs and services more effectively.

  • Your monthly gift keeps our community support active and ensures we can respond to needs immediately, with an invested group of donors dedicated to meeting our communities' most pressing needs.

  • Your monthly gift provides predictable revenue.  Much like your membership at the Y, monthly giving supports the mission work of the Y and helps us avoid peaks and valleys of donations, ensuring we can spend more time on strategic planning, training, and serving our community and less time on fundraising.

  • Simply put, your monthly gift sustains our mission-driven work.  Y Transformers support the day-to-day work of our mission and demonstrate a lasting investment in our mission.

What amount am I expected to give?

It doesn't take a lot to make a transformation, but it starts with one small movement toward something greater.

Whether you can give $10, $25, or $100, together we can make an impact on our community that will result in so much more!

A pledge of any monthly amount makes you a Y Transformer and you will receive periodic updates concerning your gift in action.

To receive a Transform Northland T-shirt, we are asking that you pledge $25 a month.

To receive banner recognition within your Y branch, a pledge of $84 or more a month is required.

What can my gift do?

Your gift can help someone in your community:

  • $5/month can save a life by teaching a child how to swim.
  • $10/month provides a safe place to reconnect to 1 family transitioning out of homelessness.
  • $25/month promotes getting outside and keeps 2 children active through Summer Day Camp.
  • $50/month teaches civic engagement through Global Youth Service Day projects led by True North AmeriCorps members in schools and youth-serving agencies across our community.
  • $84/month creates lasting memories by sending 2 children to overnight camp for a week at Camp Miller
  • $100/month supports a child’s potential after-school through Out of School Time programs.

Alone, there is amazing work your gift can do, but combine that with others in our Y community and see how TOGETHER, we can do so much more!

  • 50 people giving $5/month= teaches 60 children to swim as they gain valuable strength and confidence in their abilities.
  • 50 people giving $10/month = in one year, gives 25 families transitioning out of homelessness a 3-month membership, providing a safe, healthy environment for them to reconnect as a family in their time of need.
  • 50 people giving $25/month= will send 175 children to summer Day camp, engaging them in the outdoors and challenging them to try new things.
  • 15 people giving $50/month = provides funding for over 500 YOUTH to participate in service-learning projects, Healthy habit making, and youth leadership building activities–making our community a better place for all.
  • 15 people giving $84/month = gives 30 underserved youth the opportunity to spend a week at Camp Miller building their confidence, leadership skills, and forming lasting memories.
  • 5 people giving $100/month = provides 15 school-aged children with 9 months of Out-of-School Time programming, where they can receive the academic and social support they need to reach their potential.
I pay my dues, doesn’t that support the Y?

Your membership fees are the backbone of all the Y does and we are so grateful that you have chosen us for your family’s health and wellness.  Membership fees keep the lights on and allow us to hire the best trainers and staff to serve you and your family, and support the administrative needs of our Association.

Donations, including your monthly Transformer gift to the Y, are dedicated in their entirety to the mission of the Y.  Your transformational gift allows others to join the Y with financial assistance, provides swim lessons to youth unable to afford lessons, feeds hungry neighborhoods, and provides childcare to families in need of support.  Your donation ensures those who need us most have access to our quality programs, activities, and facilities.
