our program

True North AmeriCorps is a National Service program serving Northeastern Minnesota since September 2004. Each year the program places AmeriCorps members at nonprofit organizations to serve their community for one year. True North AmeriCorps members make a difference by serving youth in the areas of tutoring, mentoring and after-school programs.
 
Nonprofit organizations benefit from having committed, trained individuals to mobilize volunteers and community resources.  Members are rewarded with experiences and skills that will last a lifetime, in addition to a modest living allowance and an education award upon completing their year of service.  The community benefits from civically minded individuals who continue to serve after their AmeriCorps terms are complete.
 
The True North AmeriCorps Program is housed within the Duluth Area Family YMCA, where a full-time staff is available to provide support to community agencies and AmeriCorps members.
