The Y has taught the joy of swimming to thousands of youth and adults in Duluth. Elements taught include personal safety, skill development, personal growth, water sports, and rescue. We offer programs year-round for all ages and levels with small student-to-instructor ratios.
The Y Youth Aquatics Program is divided into several different levels and is oriented toward student-centered learning. It is designed to insure the student's safety, provide for regular, progressive success, and make the learning process more enjoyable.
For adults at all levels, Y swim lessons emphasize endurance, personal safety, skill development, and lifesaving techniques. Adult lessons focus on learning to increase your comfort around water and then working on specific strokes and developing them.
During scheduled Open and Lap Swim times, the pool is available for members who wish to participate in swim activities, as well as relax and enjoy our pool. It is a great time to workout independently or have family time to play together in the pool.
The Duluth YMCA Northerns Swim Team is for school-aged youth. At practice, kids are separated into ability levels and work on strokes and endurance. Each swimmer will have many opportunities to swim in meets with other youth of their same age.
