YMCAs have played a significant role in the history of sports in America. YMCAs invented basketball, volleyball and racquetball. At the Duluth YMCA, we offer many year round fitness and Adult Sport programs and leagues including basketball, volleyball, racquetball, handball, squash, ultimate frisbee, softball and more.
Basketball
The Y provides Noon Pick up Basketball every week day and a Men's Four-on-Four Basketball League held in Fall, Winter, and Spring. Open Gym times are available every day for members to practice their shots or play a game with their friends.
Climbing
State of the art climbing and bouldering walls are available for structured classes with certified instructors and open climbing times. The Y also provides belaying certification classes.
Gymnastics
Our gymnastics facility located at the Woodland Community Center features a foam floor, uneven parallel bars, beams, and a vault table. Recreational, progressive, and competitive level Gymnastics classes are available with experienced instructors.
Lacrosse
In partnership with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, the Y offers a Youth Lacrosse League for students in grades 3rd through 6th. The league runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings in June.
Miracle League
The Miracle League is a specifically designed baseball league for children with physical and/or mental disabilities. The league removes barriers that keep children with disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of Americas favorite pastime.
Racquetball, Handball, and Squash
The Downtown Y facility features two racquetball/handball courts and one squash court. Courts can be reserved up to two days in advance by calling or stopping by our Member Service Desk.
Softball
The Church Softball League is a tradition in the community. Each summer, the Y offers two family divisions: recreation and competitive. League play consists of a 10 game schedule beginning in June. Team registrations are due mid May.
Ultimate Frisbee
Combining the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate is played by two seven-player squads with a high-tech plastic disc on a field similar to football.
Volleyball
A Co-ed Volleyball League is offered Thursday evenings in Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions. Lower Level Intermediate and Upper Level Intermediate divisions are available. Teams must be preformed and players must be at least 16 years of age.
