Teen LEAD (grades 7-12)
(Leadership, Experience, Adventure, Development)
You make it happen at the YMCA. Learn leadership skills and volunteer to help provide needed activities for yourself and other local teens. Learn to belay someone while climbing, go through CPR training, attend a conference or resume writing workshop, invite guest speakers to talk to your group,volunteer with youth programs, or organize events such as fundraisers, dances, Teen Night, field trips or retreats. The possibilities are endless as the YMCA is a place where the potential is limited only by your own imagination and energy. Teen L.E.A.D. will meet twice a month and then break off to work on special volunteer projects or events. If you are serious about becoming a teen leader in the community, join us at any time. Youth In Government (grades 7-12)
Minnesota YMCA Youth in Government is a youth-led, experiential learning opportunity that involves 1,800 middle-school and high school students each year. It is a nation-wide program, active in nearly 40 states. Across the country almost 25,000 students attend state Youth in Government conferences each year, with 3,300 adult volunteers and YMCA staff serving as advisors.
- Join youth leaders from around the state to debate issues that are important to you.
- Listen to delegates with different experiences.
- Research public issues and become aware of local, state, national and international concerns.
- Accept your civic responsibilities and your leadership role.
- Let your voice be heard and get involved in the decision-making process!
Minnesota is among the top programs, nationally, in terms of quality and number of students. 60% of participants and 55% of youth program leaders are girls. Additionally, nearly two-thirds of all eligible students return the next year.
Minnesota YMCA Youth in Government builds a sense of responsibility and passion for issues, the desire to make a difference, citizenship skills, and values in the lives of teens. Ultimately, Youth in Government programs help mold character in students with a strong focus on leadership development and citizenship-building.

Y STYLE (grades 6-10)
"Y Style" is designed to encourage fitness, health, positive relationships and academic achievement for youth. "Y Style" matches youth participants with caring adult volunteers to work on homework, build positive relationships and also work on improving physical fitness. Youth and volunteers will ultimately train together for an indoor triathlon in April.

Home School PE
Home School PE (Ages 5 and up)
This program is designed for home school students how are looking for a fun and socializing way to fulfill physical education requirements. Each class will include swimming lessons, team sports and games. Participants will be split up into appropriate size groups, based on age, the first week of class.
Red Cross Certification Classes
Guard Start (ages 11-14)
Guard Start is a program which introduces youth to lifeguarding procedures and basic water rescue. After taking this class, youth will feel more prepared to respond in emergency situations.
American Red Cross Babysitter's Training (ages 11-14)
The American Red Cross Babysitter's Training prepares young people for many responsibilities associated with caring for infants and young children. This course provides injury prevention, safety skills, basic are, first aid and professionalism. Students get a training handbook, start-up manual and an American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certificate.
