Teen leadership programs build confidence and teach skills for teens to become leaders and role models at camp, in school and throughout their community. Teens are drawn to Camp Miller, not just to explore new places, but for the thrill of personal accomplishment and team connection.

Leaders - In- Training - Entering 10th Grade

Another step into servant leadership for teens is our Leaders-in-Training program, known as LIT’s at camp. The LIT program provides participants the opportunity to develop strong leadership skills and self-confidence in the camp setting over a two-week session. These skills are not only applicable to camp but will also foster leadership in the communities to which the LIT will belong throughout life, including their school, college, neighborhood, and workplace. Within our supportive camp setting, participants attend workshops addressing a variety of leadership topics. We continue the work from Navigators around service leadership while helping teens develop their voice on issues they care about and providing service opportunities locally in the Sturgeon Lake area. LIT's will also have a chance to develop their own service projects and meet community leaders. We continue to look at the world through different lenses of diversity, inclusion, and global perspectives. At the same time, they live with a cabin of younger campers and are mentored by the cabin’s senior counselor. They participate in fun and challenging team building activities which facilitate the development of a strong, cohesive group of LITs each session, leading to what often become lifelong friendships. This program also includes a weekend camping trip (3 nights, 4 days) to use the skills learned during leadership workshops.
