Keeping Your Family Safe In Aquatics

General Aquatics Programming:

  • We require face coverings be worn in all common spaces (including the pool deck) by staff, members, and program participants. Coverings may be removed when exercising and swimming
  • We will not be sharing any equipment between participants, all equipment that is used will be sanitized following practice
  • The Y including the pool is currently open at 25% capacity per Minnesota Department of Health guidelines
  • Parents and guardians can ensure their swimmer gets to and from the pool safely, however we are requesting parents avoid spectating programs to help us stay within these capacity guidelines and maintain social distancing throughout our building (excluding classes requiring parents) 
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing our pool space happens every hour between groups of swimmers
  • Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting of our lobby, exercise spaces, and locker room touch points happens multiple times throughout the day
  • Staff/ Lifeguards will be wearing masks at all times when not working in the water (only taking their mask off when performing a rescue)
  • We will be following Y-USA and state mandates to reduce the chance concerning the spread of COVID-19
  • Please be sure to bring your own towels 
  • Please have swimmers ready to go in there swim suits before they arrive to the facility and plan to shower when they get home instead of the locker rooms
  • Please arrive as early to the time your lesson starts as possible
  • If you or your swimmer is feeling ill or has any symptoms please do not come into the facility
  • Please arrive as early to the time your program starts as possible

Competitive Swimming:

  • Coaches will be wearing masks at all times
  • We will be following Y-USA, USA Swimming, and EO 20-104 recommendations
  • We will have a maximum of 5 swimmers per lane with 6ft between them
  • Swimmers will be staggered in their lanes and lanes start from opposite ends of the pool
  • Kids will be placed into lanes based on ability and remain in their lane with the same group of swimmers
  • Please be sure to bring your own towel, a filled water bottle, and goggles, we cannot provide any of those to swimmers
  • If possible bring your own swim equipment. If this is not doable we have equipment here that is sanitized before and after the clinic
  • We have spot markers on the wall to direct swimmers where to stand as well as place their belongings on the pool deck (no need to use a locker room).

Swim Lessons:

  • All preschool levels as well as levels 1-2 school age will require a parent/guardian in the water to assist with the lesson and promote physical distancing
  • Instructors will remain 9ft away from lesson participants per EO 20-104
  • We will only be allowed to have 1-2 classes in the water at a time to stay within capacity restrictions 
  • To ensure safety of you and your family, we maxed each class to have 6-7 children.
