All events held at the Park Point Rec Area for the 2020 season are expected:

  1. To adhere to the group size guidelines set forth by the State of Minnesota.

  2. Comply with the appropriate distancing measures set forth by the State of Minnesota, which includes, but is not limited to, the use of cloth face coverings.

The Duluth Area Family YMCA operates the Park Point Recreation Area on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Duluth. The Y manages the rental of the beach house for parties, wedding receptions and other gatherings, as well as provides beach lifeguards.

Beach Conditions and Updates

Lifeguards return to the beach behind the Park Point Beach House on July 10, 2020!

Beginning July 10, lifeguards plan to be on duty Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Labor Day. Hours will be Noon - 5 pm. Hours are weather dependent.

The Beach House is closed. Restrooms will be available when Lifeguards are ON duty.

2020 Events Affected by COVID

All events held at the Park Point Beach House for the 2020 season are expected:

  1. To adhere to the group size guidelines set forth by the State of Minnesota.
  2. Comply with the appropriate distancing measures set forth by the State of Minnesota.
  3. Comply with the City of Duluth ordinance, requiring the use of cloth face coverings/masks inside public buildings.

REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS: For scheduled events that are affected by COVID-19, we have changed our cancellation and refund policy, and have made the following options available:

  1. Reschedule your event to later in the current season. There will be no additional fees to move your event date. 
  2. Reschedule your event to the 2021 season. We will apply any fees already paid towards next season’s event.

If you would like to reschedule your event, please email cpodtburg@duluthymca.org as soon as you can to ensure your preferred date is available.

Pavilion Reservations

What’s the difference between the Beach House and a Pavilion?

Effective immediately, all pavilion (open-air picnic shelter) reservations will be managed by the City of Duluth Park & Rec Department.

All reservations made for a pavilion with the Duluth Y will transfer and be honored.

The pavilions are first-come, first-served if no permit has been purchased. Please be respectful of other park users who produce receipts for paid permitted use of the spaces.

2020 Beach House Information

Reservations for the 2020 season are open! To reserve a 2020 date, please email cpodtburg@duluthymca.org to obtain a tentative reservation. Application and non-refundable deposit of $150 is due to within 10 days of securing a tentative reservation. For additional information, please reference the application and contract below, and email Cheryl with further questions.
