COVID-19 Update:

  • Per Minnesota Department of Health guidelines we have suspended the 2020 family community softball season to help reduce transmission of COVID-19.

  • Skills practice and non-contact softball drills are allowed at Y facilities when gyms/fields are not in use by other programs.

The Y Softball League is open to anyone wishing to play softball, have fun, and make new friends.

Both the competitive and recreational leagues are family friendly softball leagues intended to foster healthy living and community development while having fun playing America's favorite pastime.  Each summer, the Y offers two divisions in our summer softball league: Intermediate League (previously labeled "competitive") and Recreational League. The season consists of a 10 game schedule beginning in May and ending late July/early August.

Y Community Softball League Player Ratio Rules:

Family Recreation & Intermediate Divisions: At least 3 qualifying players, of any combination, must be playing at all times. "Qualifying players" are defined as women (ages 18 or over), youth (ages 10-17), or seniors (ages 60 and over).  “Playing” is defined as being in the batting order AND out playing in the field throughout the game. The opposing manager can waive this rule if desired only before the start of the game, however this practice is not recommended. It is recommended that youth be at least 15 years of age to play in either division. Children 10-14 years old may participate using extreme caution, but this decision, though discouraged by the YMCA, rests ultimately with the parents.
